Free Invoice Generator exists because invoicing is the least enjoyable part of running a small business, and most of the available options make it worse. Word processor templates break when you add a line. Spreadsheet templates hide arithmetic errors until a client queries the total. Full accounting platforms solve the problem thoroughly but ask for a monthly subscription, an onboarding process and a login before you can produce a single document.

We wanted the shortest possible path from “I finished the work” to “the client has a professional invoice”. That meant a generator that loads immediately, calculates correctly, looks like it came from an established company, and asks for nothing in return — no account, no email address, no card.

Who maintains this tool

The site is maintained by a small distributed team of independent operators: product designers, front-end engineers and consultants who invoice their own clients every month. Every workflow decision came from a real billing frustration. The duplicate-and-increment feature exists because retainer invoicing is repetitive. The discount-before-tax calculation order exists because bookkeepers told us the opposite order misstates the taxable base. The A4 margin handling exists because early users printed invoices and lost the bottom row.

How we treat your data

Invoices are generated entirely in your browser. Your business details, client details, line items, logo and signature are never transmitted to our servers, because there is no invoice server. Drafts you choose to save are written to your browser's local storage on your own device. This is a deliberate architectural choice: the safest way to protect commercial billing data is to never receive it.
